Drawings Series

Light Phenomena

A series of drawings based on Hubble telescope photos of light phenomena in the universe.

Nebulae and supernovas, scaled down to human proportions, are drawn on paper with coloured pencils and pastels, and framed between two panes of acrylic glass like a laboratory specimen, as an attempt to capture part of outer space and make it part of our human world.

The pencil lines, the eraser traces, paper edges are kept visible in the drawing, and remind the viewer of the materials and the making process. The drawings portray a longing to capture extraterrestrial beauty, and, at the same time, the inescapability of the mundane present.
